Feel Great Naked is a narrative about how we, as a couple, shed years of desperate loneliness, fierce independence, and self-hatred in our quest to create a relationship so joyful and loving that it would feel like heaven on earth.
We hope readers will be inspired by our willingness to laugh at ourselves in our 19 year struggle for freedom in our marriage. We write about what is possible in relationship when both partners go for what they truly want together.
Getting emotionally naked is scary. We learned the hard way that we need to show each other our vulnerability - show all the parts of ourselves that we hated and rejected. In the end, our willingness to navigate these treacherous waters enabled us to stand side by side, many years later, and write this book together.
We take readers on our journey of self-discovery, as we stumbled from lonely and fiercely independent individuals to a joyful, exuberant, loving and fulfilled couple. Along the way, we came up against many societal dictates and our own family programming: how we should be in marriage, how we should be successful in our careers and how we should appear to others. Ultimately, we reinvented ourselves.
A close, loving relationship takes work. Still we argue over our differences. Sometimes we want to run. Sometimes we want to fight. Like now, after the 600th revision of this description, during which we fought over every word, spitting and screaming... Still we come back together to laugh about it and create anew.
Anyone interested in creating a relationship with a deeper level of intimacy and joy will want to read this book. We do not claim to be special gurus, experts, or spiritual channels. We do claim to have a joyful marriage. As wife and husband, we offer both sides of the story: the right side and the wrong side. We deliberately choose a light-hearted and engaging narrative style and avoid discussions of spiritual principles. We aim to demonstrate a profound spiritual relationship, like Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks, authors of Conscious Loving, but with the light-hearted narrative style of Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love.

Miriam Evers and Howard Staples have been married for 19 years and have two children. They are deeply committed to practicing a Holy Relationship by finding love and fulfillment within themselves and seeing their own reflection in each other. Their common purpose is to be free in who they truly are, share their love and enjoy the journey together. They founded and co-created the thriving, 34-home cohousing community where they live. For the past ten years they have been involved in putting on personal and spiritual growth workshops.

Howard Staples:
Howard is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and keen advocate of numerous programs that connect people deeply to their joy and purpose. Raised on a homestead farm in Saskatchewan in a family of ten, he came to value persistence and community at an early age. He is the visionary and co-founder of the WindSong Cohousing Community where he and Miriam live. He co-founded and, for two years, managed the Youth on Purpose Society, which helped troubled youth and families to transform and find purpose in life.
Howard's 13 year career in radio systems led him to travel and work over most continents. Progressing up to project manager, he led the implementation of leading-edge data radio systems for police departments and major utility companies.
His desire to connect more deeply with people inspired him to move on from his original expertise in radio systems. Now, he consults with cohousing and eco-village groups. He continues to participate in and lead workshops on personal growth. He has five years of training in psychodrama, psychomotor and group psychotherapy, and is also a practitioner and teacher of rebirthing - conscious breathing transformation - and Laughter Yoga.
