Book Description: The Bottom Line is about a guy in college learning how to overcome his ego's fears and desires. It is unlike any book you have probably ever read because it is a novel that uses humor, suspense and raw emotion to convey its message about how we can have a deep faith even if we are facing uncertainty, reservations or confusion.
The main character in The Bottom Line, Walt Metsh, begins college motivated solely by the fears and desires of his ego. Sometimes this results in some funny predicaments and what even seems like a lot of fun. However, one night after drinking with his buddies; Walt's ego drives him to a state of anger that leads to a nearly tragic incident.
Fortunately, the next morning Walt wakes up and decides that he must completely change the way he is living in order to find any true meaning or fulfillment in his life. This stirs within him a desire to study the practices of history's greatest spiritual teachers.
As Walt incorporates their practices into his daily life, he undergoes an age-old internal battle of learning how to follow the wisdom of his intuition when he is tempted to act out on his ego's desires.
While Walt gradually learns how to undo his ego's limiting beliefs and thought systems, the reader will also learn how to let go of their own pain, insecurities and fear; and remember the Sacred part of their mind that encompasses pure love.
It is my most sincere hope that The Bottom Line will make people laugh, cry and find inspiration because it is about normal person experiencing the struggles and joys of real life. And, since the story wrestles with universal questions that everyone faces, I believe it will help you find more purpose in life and develop a type of trust that will carry you through any spiritual challenge.
If you click on the play button above you can hear me read an excerpt from The Bottom Line that demonstrates how Walt's ego has a tendency to get him into trouble.

Author(s) Bio
Matthew Welsh: Ever since I can remember, I have been trying to understand what we can do to fulfill our potential, grow spiritually and create the type of of life we desire. This journey has taken some unexpected twists and turns along the way.
During law school, I was inspired to write The Bottom Line, a novel about a guy in college learning how to overcome his ego's fears and desires.
After I graduated from law school, I moved from Indianapolis to Los Angeles to work for a talent and literary agency, the William Morris Agency. While working in Hollywood, I realized that there were a lot of spiritual movies, TV shows and programs being made that were not getting the respect they deserved. This experience drove me to create Spiritual Media Blog in order to raise awareness for emerging conscious entertainment.
I love Matt.
The world of "spiritual authors, mentors, experts and leaders" is dominated by insincere opportunists, phonies, scam artists, hypocrites and charlatans. Matt, in any realm, is an idealist with the most genuine of intentions. While people like Wayne Dyer may be more experienced, eloquent and savvy, Matt is the real deal. His work is honest, authentic and inspirational. He genuinely gives a damn more about people than he does his wallet. I'd take one Matt Welsh over 99.9% of anyone else I have ever read or known personally when it comes to human magnanimity and authenticity. Not only is, "The Bottom Line" a rewarding experience it is a great insight into what authentic, raw personal inspiration and growth look like with no ulterior motives. Matt has given me the gift to have some real respect and hope for a genre which has become so commercial and capitalistic that it had turned me completely away from it. Highly recommend this humble young man's experience.

Matt thank you for sharing your journey with us - you provide a valuable gift to those who are unsure about whether or not they can follow their hearts.... especially those people in more logical / technical fields like law, computers, etc, where intuition and feelings are often disregarded or disowned.

Matt's book really hit home for me when I read it as a recent college graduate trying to find myself and my place in the world. Walt's journey towards self-discovery and spirituality can be universally applied to people trying to find deeper meaning and fulfillment in their lives, and get past ego-driven fears to be their true selves. I truly hope Matt's work is published so a larger audience can experience the wisdom Matt was written in "The Bottom Line"
